I joined HLC during my first semester at GT as a way to become more involved in the Honors Program community and gain leadership experience.  It has been incredible to work with so many other HP students to help bring events and experiences to the program.  In my first year, I was a part of the New Student Onboarding Committee, which plans the first-year retreat and helps read through new student applications for the Honors Program.  I am excited to be working with HLC as Director of Strategic Planning this semester.  It is such a great opportunity to become further involved in the Honors Program and continue to improve student life for HP students.

Even outside of HLC, the Honors Program has been one of the best influences on my college experience.  The Honors Program creates smaller sections for nearly every intro class on campus.  This bolsters the sense of community in the Honors Program.  Going into college, one thing you often don’t think about is the fact that you won’t know anyone in your classes.  But when you take HP sections, you are part of a much smaller pool of students and you’ll end up recognizing dozens of faces in your classes.  It makes the first day of any semester far less intimidating when you walk into a lecture and already see a group of students that you share a building or hall with.  The Honors Program also offers several events every month during the semester which is a great opportunity to meet other HP students.

Because of the Honors Program, I have found my closest friends on campus and I am incredibly grateful for them.  The Honors Program has been a huge impact on my college experiences from classes, to activities, to friends, and I would recommend for any incoming students to apply!  

Outside of the Honors Program, I am involved with YJSP (Yellow Jacket Space Program) on the HETS (Helluva Engine Test Stand) team.  In the Fall of 2023, I also served as a Math TA for MATH-1113, and I plan on TAing again in the near future!
